Welcome to the online home of Sewn Down Purple Lane. Thank you for stopping by… I hope you like what you see, and please get in touch if I can help any further. There is an order enquiry form here, or I can also be contacted via my Etsy shop or Facebook page.

Here’s a little bit about me and the business. I’m Ruth, mum to two young boys, and I love sewing all sorts for little ones and their grown ups – with an emphasis on items that are both gorgeous and practical. Everything you see on this website is 100% handmade by me. We use cloth nappies and other reusable products as well as baby/toddler slings and carriers, both of which have heavily influenced my work. I’ve been sewing for as long as I can remember, and once my boys came along I decided to leave employment outside the home and start a little business doing something that I love to fit around the family – that’s when Sewn Down Purple Lane was born, and since then it has grown with various new products. Purple Lane is fictional, but based on where we live and where I sew: Bournville – the home of a famous (originally) British chocolate company.

I’m always happy to chat about custom orders, and I try to keep a few things in stock too whilst working around orders and keeping turnaround to a reasonable time. All current in stock items can be found in the shop.
